I’m finishing up the inks for BARTKIRA. I’ll be doing the lettering in the next week, but I’m finishing up the inks in the next few hours.
This is where I realized I had a flaw in backgrounds. While some of them were easy (panel 6 was okay and only used minimal reference; same with 4), panel 1 was certainly a doozy. I…kind of cheated on the robot here (I super-imposed the pencils on top of the original art and inked from that, which is why certain parts are more sketchy than others). This was really a lesson on learning to do perspective and curves better.
But I’ve really had fun with this project: I’ve been doing the transformation pages where Tetsuo (in the project, Milhouse) begins to turn into that giant pink mass of flesh and pus. I love drawing super-technical organic stuff like the organs and little oozy bits, so those were a dream and they are why I was interested in doing this project in the first place. I guess I’ll have to get a little bit better with backgrounds and objects that aren’t giant, revolting bits of horror.
